What is YOGA FLOW?
Yoga Flow combines breath and movement to create a continuous flow from posture to posture to strengthen and stretch, building a strong foundation for more advanced yoga practices. It is invigorating and peaceful, suitable for all active beginners. It is recommended for people who want an active practice promoting physical fitness but who also want to relax and come to a deeper understanding of themselves. Yoga Flow helps to increase flexibility and strength, lung capacity and body awareness.
Meet our YOGA FLOW Instructor - Chelsea Stephenson
Chelsea is a sweet, energetic and knowledgeable yoga teacher in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her passion is to help people through yoga, guiding them as they learn to heal from the inside out. She loves to work with people and feels she learns so much from every person she comes into contact with.
Chelsea began her journey in yoga practicing in the Ashtanga style. The flowing movements full of strength and grace inspired her from the very first moment and she knew yoga would be a part of her for the rest of her life. Like many people, Chelsea began yoga for the purpose of becoming more fit and more flexible. However, once she was in the yoga class she realized that there was something deeper, something underneath the surface of the beautiful postures. Over the course of a few years, Chelsea found that her time on the mat brought her tranquility and respite from a frenzied university schedule. She made more time for yoga and began to branch out, trying other styles such as; vinyasa flow, kundalini, yin yoga, hatha and hot yoga. Chelsea enjoys practicing yoga outdoors and has taught karma yoga with Yoga In The Park, at Hawrelak Park.
Inspired by the wealth and depth of the various yoga styles, Chelsea pursued yoga teacher training and completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher training course with the World Conscious Yoga Family under the guidance of Yogi Vishvketu. Her training deeply moved her, and now she is going to India to complete her 500 hour Yoga Alliance Registered teacher training course in Rishikesh.
Rishikesh is a city in northern India and has been nicknamed “the capital of yoga” as many great sages have studied there. It is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and is right alongside the sacred river of India, the Ganges. There, Chelsea learned advanced yoga breathing techniques, meditation and yoga postures. She lived a truly yogic lifestyle, beginning her practice every day at 6am. She studied under Yogi Vishvketu who truly embodies the very essence of an Indian Guru.
Chelsea is so happy to be welcomed into the Precision Martial Arts family and is so happy to be back! She practiced Tae Kwon Do with PMAA in 2001 and 2002 before her travels took her to Japan and onwards. Inspired by what she learned from martial arts and the great instructors at PMAA she approaches her yoga practice with enthusiasm.
“I can’t wait to see you in class! Until then, Namaste!”
